Generations of owners and workers at Hanford Mills connected people with the things that they needed. Over time, they harnessed technological innovations as they continued to provide the products and services that their community needed. From its start as a sawmill in the 1840s, Hanford Mills grew to also include a gristmill, feed mill, woodworking shop, and hardware store. 

Today, Hanford Mills Museum continues to show how rural mills operated, why they were so critical to rural economies and communities, and what they can teach us about the impact of energy, technology, and sustainability on rural communities today.
