Identify and review knowledge of ice harvesting tools.
Method:
Students will complete a worksheet to match ice harvest tools to their name and purpose.
Materials:
- A copy of The Ice Tool Match Worksheet for each student.
- Writing implements
- Ice Tool Match Answer Sheet for the teacher
Time:
- Preparation Time: 5 minutes
- Class Time: 15-20 minutes
Procedure:
Review your visit to Hanford Mills Museum and how ice was harvested from the pond.
Questions to ask:
- What steps went into harvesting ice?
- Where and how did people store ice?
- Give each student a copy of the Ice Tool Match worksheet to complete.
- Give each student a copy of the Ice Tool Match worksheet to complete.
- If you wish you can go over the answers as a class.
